Parent Code of Conduct

How parents and guardians support players, coaches and officials at Soccer Academy Calgary UA.

Last updated: September 9, 2026

Soccer Academy Calgary UA is committed to a safe, respectful, professional and development-focused environment. A parent or legal guardian registering a player agrees to the standards below.

Positive Support

Parents and guardians support players positively and respectfully. Encouragement of effort, teamwork, discipline and sportsmanship is always welcome. Parents do not coach from the sideline, give competing tactical instructions, or interfere with communication between a coach and a player.

Respectful Behaviour

Parents and guardians do not shout aggressively, insult, threaten, intimidate, use abusive language, enter a playing or training area without permission, confront children or adults, or direct negative comments at players, coaches, referees, volunteers, other parents, facility staff, league representatives or partner-club representatives.

Coaching Decisions

Training sessions, team talks, positions, substitutions, roster decisions, discipline, tactics, match preparation, post-game instruction and group placement are the coaching staff’s responsibility. Questions are welcome — raised respectfully, at an appropriate time, through the communication method the Academy asks families to use.

The Development Process

Coaches are responsible for instruction and player development, and may reasonably require discipline, punctuality, attention, effort, accountability, correct execution, respectful behaviour and compliance with instructions. Correcting mistakes is a normal part of developing a player.

Harassment and Pressure

Parents do not harass, intimidate, threaten or apply improper pressure to coaches, assistants, staff, volunteers, contractors or Academy leadership. This includes repeated aggressive demands, public accusations, pressure applied through other parents, and attempts to control coaching decisions.

Other Organizations

Parents do not create or escalate conflicts with other teams, clubs, academies, referees, tournament staff, facilities, leagues, governing bodies or partner organizations. Concerns are raised through Academy channels.

Privacy, Reputation and Lawful Complaints

Parents do not knowingly or recklessly publish false, private, defamatory or confidential information about the Academy, its coaches, players, families, partners or staff.

Nothing in this policy prevents a lawful report or complaint to police, child-protection authorities, a governing body, insurer, lawyer, regulator or any other appropriate authority.

Facilities and Siblings

Families respect facility rules, parking requirements, restricted areas and cleanliness standards. Parents remain responsible for supervising siblings and other children who are not taking part in the scheduled Academy activity.

Consequences

Depending on seriousness and circumstances, a violation may lead to a verbal warning, a written warning, a meeting, restrictions on attendance, temporary suspension, removal from an activity, or termination of participation. Serious misconduct may result in immediate action, subject to applicable law and governing-body rules.
