Safety Policy
Last updated: September 9, 2026
Soccer Academy Calgary UA is committed to reasonable safety practices, while recognising that sport involves inherent risk. This page summarises how we approach player safety and welfare.
Safe Sport
The Academy expects an environment free from abuse, harassment, bullying, discrimination, threats, retaliation and other prohibited misconduct. Players, parents, coaches, volunteers and staff follow the applicable Academy, facility, league, governing-body and legal requirements.
Reporting a Safety Concern
Safety or misconduct concerns should be reported promptly to the Academy — in person, or by email to DenysVakar@saCalgaryUA.ca. Concerns are treated seriously and confidentially.
Nothing in Academy policy prevents or delays a report to police, emergency services, child-protection authorities, a governing body or another appropriate authority.
Concussion and Suspected Head Injury
If a player is reasonably suspected of a concussion or significant head injury, the player is removed from the activity and is never pressured to continue. The parent or guardian is notified and appropriate medical assessment should be obtained. Return to training or competition follows medical advice and the applicable governing-body concussion and return-to-sport requirements.
Injury and Emergency Response
Coaches and staff may stop participation whenever they reasonably believe continued activity is unsafe, and may contact emergency services when reasonably necessary. Parents are responsible for keeping emergency and medical information current with the Academy.
Equipment and Clothing
Players use the required protective equipment and appropriate footwear and clothing. Jewellery or personal items that create a safety risk may need to be removed, subject to applicable rules and reasonable accommodation.
Facilities and Playing Surfaces
Players and families follow facility rules and stay out of restricted areas. The Academy may modify, relocate, postpone or cancel an activity when conditions are reasonably considered unsafe.
Arrival and Pickup
A parent or guardian remains responsible for their child until the child is accepted into the scheduled supervised activity. Players are picked up promptly at the end of an activity by an authorised person, or according to another written arrangement accepted by the Academy.
Personal Property
Families are responsible for personal belongings brought to Academy activities. The Academy cannot guarantee against loss, theft or damage, subject to applicable law.
This page is published for information. Viewing it is not a signature: the documents that require acceptance are sent privately for electronic signature after the Academy approves a registration request.
